Job description
As a Data Scientist (f/m/d), you will build up cross-disciplinary expertise in the field of digital science at ITAS. The aim is to analyze large amounts of data and make them usable for technology assessment (TA). In detail, you will have the following tasks
- Conduct data analyses for research projects in Technology Assessment and related fields, e.g. applying NLP methods to social media data, news, publication or patent data and creating reusable data pipelines
- Visualisation of research results
- Development and implementation of open source software for the specific purposes of technology assessment, e.g. for automated evaluations in social science analyses
In addition to the scientific work, there is the possibility of a doctorate.

Personal qualification
- Completed University Degree (Master level) in computational social sciences, digital humanities or related forms of quantitative social science research, statistics, computer science, data engineering, physics, or mathematics
- Interest in technology assessment, interdisciplinary work and the application of data science to solve societal challenges
- Ability to apply data science in social science context
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, Julia or SQL and knowledge of quantitative methods such as applied statistics, machine learning, NLP, and data visualization
- Experience in common database languages (e.g. SQL), APIs, and their connection to data pipelines
- Initial experience in the integration of large language models and vector databases, web data collection, development of web applications for data visualization
- Good communication skills
- Fluent either in English or German, or both
Salary
Salary category 13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
