IMT 35-2022 Internship Bacteria culturing and preparation for NMR experiments

Institut für Mikrostrukturtechnik (IMT)

Nuclear magnetic resonance is an analysis tool with several advantages, such as being non-invasive and allowing real-time monitoring. Thus, it offers great opportunities for cell and cell metabolism monitoring over extended periods. However, for these experiments, bacteria culture need to be cultivated over longer periods and be refreshed to ensure reproducible results. Also, samples have to be prepared accordingly and checked with microscopy.

  • Cell handling and culturing
  • Production of culture media and stack plates
  • Concentration determination of bacteria
  • Cultivating bacteria strains from cry stocks
  • Sample preparation for microscopy and SEM
  • Microscopy of samples

This internship offers the opportunity of learning cell handling and culturing as well as working in an S1 bio lab. Additionally, first experience can be collected in planning and preparing experiments and gaining first insight into the work in research.
