IAM-AWP 01-2022 Master Thesis in Electrothermal modelling and SoX estimation of lithium-ion batteries

The principal area of research related to the thesis is the characterization, modelling and state estimation of lithium-ion batteries. The master student is expected to develop and verify equivalent electric circuits and 3D-thermal models based on laboratory measurements and provided data. An essential part of the thesis concerns developing algorithms for SoX estimation of the lithium-ion batteries to be implemented in a Battery Management System (BMS). The SoX estimation includes state-of-charge, state-of-health, and state-of-power of the lithium-ion batteries.

  • Basic knowledge of electrochemistry
  • Comprehensive supervision and support are offered, as well as excellent experimental equipment. In return, a high level of motivation and commitment, as well as goal-oriented work, is expected
  • Due to the multidisciplinary research field related to the research, the student could have different backgrounds, e.g Degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, materials engineering, or physics, chemistry, and materials science
