Research assistant (f/m/d), in the field of multi-criteria sustainability assessment of energy technologies
Part time 50 %
Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS)
By using methods of multi-criteria decision-analysis (MCDA), an integrated, simultaneous consideration of economic, ecological and social indicators can be achieved within the framework of the sustainability assessment of energy technologies that are relevant for the energy transition. The identification of variables influencing the decision-making process when using these methods provides important information for advising decision-makers in science, industry and politics.
In this context, you will be responsible for the further development of existing methodological approaches for the sustainability assessment of energy technology processes and technologies at different stages of development. For this purpose, you will research the state of the art of MCDA methods and assessment criteria. Furthermore, you are responsible for the extension of existing assessment approaches with regard to the criteria used and the inclusion of different stakeholders as well as for the conception, development and validation of an IT tool for decision support (decision support tool - DST) in the context of sustainability assessment. You will use this tool to conduct a multi-criteria sustainability assessment for one or more use cases.
In addition to the scientific activity, there is the possibility of a doctorate.
You have a university degree (Diplom (Uni)/Master) in natural sciences, economics or Engineering. Good knowledge of MS Excel as well as a programming language (preferably Java, Python or VBA) are desirable. First experiences in multi-criteria decision analysis or in the field of sustainability assessment of energy technologies are an advantage. You enjoy working in a team and have interdisciplinary competence. Very good German and/or English skills round off your profile.
Salary category 13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
