Junior-Professorship (without Tenure Track) for Modeling and Analysis in Mobility Software Engineering

Organizational unit

Division II - Informatics, Economics, and Society, Institute of Information Security and Dependability (KASTEL), KIT Department of Informatics

Job description

The junior professorship is associated with a junior research group leadership and is intended to strengthen the focus on Mobility Software Engineering in the Innovation Campus “Mobility of the Future” (ICM). In the ICM, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the University of Stuttgart combine their competences in research and innovation to conduct interdisciplinary research into new forms of individual mobility, flexible production technologies and future value-added networks, thereby offering an ideal environment for the junior professorship.

The professorship's mission is to research, integrate, develop, and adapt modeling languages and analysis methods that address specific challenges of individual mobility of the future. Examples would be the development and analysis of discrete-continuous (hybrid) models or the handling of dynamic context changes of mobile, especially runtime-adaptive systems. The primary goal of the research should be to improve the reliability of mobility systems. Therefore, it is expected that quality attributes of the systems such as security, safety, reliability or availability will be considered in the context of the research.

The professorship contributes to an appropriate extent to the teaching of the KIT Department of Informatics. The professorship is associated with a teaching obligation of 4 hours before and 6 hours after the successful evaluation. You will actively shape your research at KIT and your own further development and will independently supervise doctoral candidates and students. In doing so, you will combine a cooperative working method with strong communication skills.
