Wüstenrot Stiftung - Visiting Professorship
Division IV - Natural and Built Environment, KIT Department of Architecture
This visiting professorship is to be awarded to young academics or experts from the discipline of architecture in order to provide an opportunity to begin or expand a career path within the academic system. The professorship is to be awarded for one semester.
We seek architects or young academics from the discipline of architecture who are able to integrate current issues and topics from practice, science, and society in the form of a course in the master's program in architecture. Courses offered in English are welcome.
In particular this involves introducing content that complements the department´s existing range of courses with relevant and responsible contributions addressing major social challenges for building in the present and future. These may include questions regarding climate change and its ecological and socio-economic consequences for the built environment, the energy revolution and the related effects on the adaptation of existing buildings and historical building culture, the scarcity of resources and the circular economy, or digitalization and its potentials for innovative building production. Additional topics may include questions related to rapid global urbanization or developing demographic - and employment-related changes and their effects on the planning of new living environments and spaces, and so on.
The visiting professorship may be awarded in all sub-disciplines relevant to the discipline of architecture.

We seek a personality for the visiting professorship who can demonstrate his or her outstanding professional competence as an expert / junior academic in the field of architecture and who is able to contribute research topics that are current, socially relevant, and practice-oriented to a course at the master's level.
1 semester each, in the period from winter semester 2021/22 - summer semester 2023 (contract duration 5 months each)
