Ihre Aufgaben
An emerging X-ray Imaging - Nuclear Magnetic Resonance correlative (CORREL) characterization infrastructure is being developed at the Institute of Microstructure Technology! This exciting new technology is set to revolutionize the way we approach weakly absorbing materials, such as polymer foams, soft tissues, and composite materials, by providing a better imaging contrast.
The development of phase-sensitive imaging methods has made it possible to overcome the inherent limitations of absorption-based imaging. This Master thesis will focus on a mask-based phase-sensitive non-interferometric approach called Single-shot or Harmonic X-ray Imaging (SSI), which is an excellent alternative to the established three-grating interferometric setups using laboratory sources.
The basic setup consists of an X-ray source, an X-ray detector, a rotation stage, and an optical element, which makes it possible to obtain from a single image simultaneously absorption, differential-phase, and scattering contrasts. By using a single optical element, the signal modulation will increase, yielding a better system performance by boosting the signal-to-noise ratio.
The implementation of Single-shot phase-sensitive imaging within the X-ray-NMR scanner will offer spectral along with enhanced imaging contrast. This opens up opportunities for fast measurements, such as monitoring dynamical processes and low dose imaging, in case of studying specimens that may damage. So, what are you waiting for? Join us in exploring the world of X-ray Imaging - Nuclear Magnetic Resonance correlative characterization infrastructure and be part of the future of biomedical and material science!
Your work will involve installing an Xineos 2329 detector in the basic radiographic configuration, developing data acquisition software using Python programming language, and performing preliminary measurements and necessary experimental adjustments. You will gain invaluable knowledge and practical skills in X-ray imaging systems and Python programming, while contributing to a groundbreaking research project.
