Ihre Aufgaben

As part of the ERC Synergy Grant HiSCORE, which is a collaboration between four research groups (Jan Korvink-Karlsruhe, Benno Meier-Karlsruhe, Geoffrey Bodenhausen-Paris, and Arno Kentgens-Nijmegen), you will develop and experimentally test novel CMOS application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) for massively parallel nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy applications. The CMOS circuits should be designed based on one of the high-technology CMOS process design kits available at KIT, and should be capable of carrying out the analog signal processing (signal amplification, filtering, IQ modulation and demodulation, frequency synthesis) and signal multiplexing tasks on the parallel NMR signals. During the design phase, you are expected to coordinate your design with the HiSCORE team members to match their requirements in terms of application and hardware. Furthermore, you should develop smart solutions to interface the CMOS chips to the commercial spectrometers’ hardware to benefit from the standard NMR signal processing libraries available in commercial systems. The designed CMOS circuits must be fabricated at a suitable commercial semiconductor service (MPW), and their performance must be evaluated in parallel NMR spectroscopy experiments.

IMT-KIT offers a research-friendly environment and being part of the KIT, you will have the possibility to join one of the graduate schools and benefit from its services and advantages. IMT is additionally well equipped in research facilities and equipment. You will have access to an X-band EPR system and several low-field and state-of-the-art high-field NMR and MRI systems. Furthermore, you will have access to several labs for micro-manufacturing, prototyping, electronics and RF characterization, optics, fluidics, chemistry, and biology.

In addition to the scientific activity, there is the possibility of a doctorate.
