Job description

The position is with KIT’s Institute for Astroparticle Physics (IAP). Its Dark Matter group is part of the KIT Center Elementary Particle and Astroparticle Physics (KCETA) with theoretical as well as experimental research groups involved in e.g. Auger, IceCube, KATRIN, CMS, Belle/Belle II.).

The Institute for Astroparticle Physics (IAP) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology invites applications for a doctoral Researcher (f/m/d) in direct Dark Matter search. The institute has a long tradition in this field and is a member of the XENON and DARWIN collaborations. For the DARWIN project, we contribute to sensitivity studies and the development of hardware. In XENON, we will extend our efforts in data analysis of the XENONnT Experiment. The successful candidate (f/m/d) is expected to contribute significantly to the data analysis for XENONnT at IAP as part of the coordinated analysis group within the XENON collaboration. Participation in our simulation and hardware development efforts for DARWIN as well as contributions to R&D activities in new fields of direct DM search would be welcome.

Personal qualification

You hold a master degree (University or equivalent) in physics with relevant experience in particle or astroparticle physics or a related field. A background in software development and statistical analyses, especially in data analysis of dual-phase xenon TPCs or in related hardware R&D, is advantageous. Participation in international collaborations requires excellent intercultural and organizational skills.
