The energy consumption of the computing sector has been increasing exponentially. Therefore, new low power computing paradigms to enable green and sustainable computing are necessary. Near Threshold Computing (NTC) promises to achieve ultra low energy computation based on aggressive voltage down scaling. However, there are several challenges to achieve robust computing using NTC. The purpose of this project is to develop logic and microarchitecture design based on NTC concept and approximate computing to achieve low energy consumption and high reliability.

Persönliche Qualifikation

  • The applicants should hold a university degree (Diploma or Masters) in the areas of Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and should also have strong English communication skills (both Oral and Writing).
  • Suitable candidates must possess a strong willingness for research exploration, independence, self-learning, creativity, teamwork and communication skills as well as the willingness in the preparation of research proposals.
  • Experience in logic synthesis, timing analysis, circuit simulation, library characterization, and approximate computing is necessary.


The remuneration occurs on the basis of the wage agreement of the civil service in TV-L E13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
