Postdoc Position (f/m/d) in Building Healthcare Resilience Against Cyber-Attacks

Job description

In recent years, the number and severity of cyber-attacks against healthcare providers and hospitals worldwide have increased significantly, resulting in blocked access to patient data and critical services, appointment cancellations, and closed emergency departments. This Helmholtz project is dedicated to making an entire hospital network more resilient to future cyber threats by developing a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach. This project aims to use operations research methods to support decisions on selecting and implementing a range of appropriate preparation and response measures for an interdependent hospital network to become resilient in the event of cyber-attacks.

Your main tasks and responsibilities within this project are:

  • Conduct academic research which will lead to high quality scientific publications in the field of operations research and business analytics
  • Contribute to projects with academic and industrial partners, e.g. KASTEL, Imperial College London, hospitals in Germany etc.
  • Assist in teaching activities of the department

Personal qualification

  • We welcome candidates with a PhD with a quantitative focus, e.g., operations research, business or data analytics, finance, mathematics, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in quantifying risks and uncertainties desirable
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work independently, take initiative and show enthusiasm
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English; German not required
  • We are looking for candidates with a strong drive and keen interest in conducting meaningful and innovative research.

Salary

Salary category EG 13 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
